Remembering Gloria Noluthando Moche
We are deeply saddened to note the passing of Gloria Noluthando Moche, a compassionate community activist from Johannesburg, South Africa. Gloria was a dedicated member of the IMPAACT Community Advisory Board (ICAB) Leadership Group (ILG) and served as an ICAB representative on the IMPAACT Tuberculosis (TB) Scientific Committee.
Gloria's work with the Soweto IMPAACT/Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) clinical research site was marked by her commitment to educating and empowering community constituents about the importance of medical research. Her advocacy and training supported her efforts to keep community members well-informed about planned and ongoing studies and the significance of community engagement.
Gloria’s leadership and dedication made a significant impact on the understanding and acceptance of medical research, particularly in the fight against HIV and TB. Gloria's ability to communicate complex medical/clinical information clearly and effectively was instrumental in making research more accessible and inclusive.
Gloria was a woman of strong faith, always maintaining a positive outlook and calm demeanor in the face of challenges. Her unwavering belief inspired and comforted those around her. Gloria’s ILG colleagues describe her as a warm-hearted and beautiful soul, whose quiet, unassuming presence made everyone feel welcome and included. At the IMPAACT Annual Meeting, Gloria was the unofficial group photographer, capturing moments with her selfie stick.
Gloria's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the positive changes she championed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. Gloria Noluthando Moche's spirit of service and dedication to community health will forever be remembered.
