World AIDS Day 2021: BJMC CRS
Addressing this year's World AIDS Day theme of "End Inequalities, End AIDS," BJMC CRS staff and the Community Advisory Board (CAB), in collaboration, carried out AIDS awareness by acknowledging the extremely hard efforts of health workers.
Mr. Santosh Mali, ICAB member and CAB Chair of the BJMC CRS, along with research site staff, honored ART (Anti-Retroviral Therapy) and ICTC (Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre) staff who are delivering daily HIV care and services. The contribution of staff like medical officers, counselors, nurses, data managers, NTEP (National Tuberculosis Elimination Program) is worth acknowledging, especially for their uninterrupted services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
These are the people who delivered high-quality essential HIV services during the pandemic by ensuring their own safety, and safety of people to whom they are giving HIV care. Every day, we watched them offer services to people that were kind, respectful of human rights, and without stigma and discrimination.
At this event, Mr. Santosh Mali talked about the work of the CAB, and Ms. Savita Kanade, CAB Staff Liaison, talked about various research conducted at the BJMC CRS and how research at the site converted into health policy guidelines.
